Hey guys,
Just thought I would share some pics of my 1962 Beetle.
Shes my pride and joy. Totally original, immaculate and rust free. A rare car itself its classified as a 1962 and 1/2, the only fully Australian built
Beetle aka the catch up beetle. Wolfsburg used to send knock down kits from Germany to Australia and put them together at Clayton.
There are some minor minor probs ie some dents tired front seats. So far ive completely cleaned up the engine (original) and had it fully serviced. It
ran perfectly when I bought it, but im fussy with my cars. New fuel lines, new indicator switch and ivory steering wheel.
There is not much work needed, but im slowly getting her perfect. I drive it regularly and shes never let me down. As mentioned ill never sell her.
She will be a member of my family for a long time to come
Ill post some more up to date pics over the weekend.

As im refering from a book "Volkswagen In Australia" The 1962 & 1/2 Beetle is refered to as "The Australianised Beetle" VWA even put a made in
Australia sticker on it. (as mine beetle has this sticker though it is showing 45 yrs of age)
The book refered the CKD's were replaced in 1963 and continued till the 1974 Superbug model.
Im getting the info from there
replace only with the word first.

Hi Luke,
Like your ride, but I am a bit bias. I am doing a ground up rebuild of a Turquoise 61 beetle (wont be stock). Also I am only in Casula, so not far
away either.
Will try to post some pics of my rebuild over the week-end. Down to a bare floor pan and a completely striped shell awaitng sand blasting.
turquoise is my favourite colour as well ,mines a 61
nice car!

Just an update and to the progress of my 62 bug.
Ive had the 6 volt radio installed and it works great. Also I picked up an awsome retro roof rack, thanks heaps hewy.
Also ive searched ebay and purchased some great 60's era accessories, 2 malleys eskies and a old skool suitcase.
Next on the list is the door window rubbers which need to be replaced as they are badly cracked.
In addition the axel boot have been replaced, they looked ancient
Anyways...enjoy
Pics with some of the cool stuff i brought
Pic of the rear
old skool stciker i got from ebay
the oldie eskies
vent rubber seals that need to be replaced
You realise I have an esky that would perfect for you beetle...even the right colour
been a while, but due to other commitments i havent had a chance to do anything to the bug.
Ive had the eyelids removed as i felt they looked a little comical, i reckon car looks better without them.
The front quater window seals have been replaced. The old ones had completely rotted due to 4 decades for heat. Replaced with West Coast Metric
rubbers.
Minor paint touch ups, hans klacck was able to match to colour as close as he could.
My little addition is the "D" sign. They are usually displayed at the rear of the car, but due to the big rear bumper over rider, i have put it a
the front of the car. I personally think it looks better there.
Ill Put some pics up tonight
Sweet. I love it! probably my favourite style and era of Beetle
Hey Luke.Nice car man.
Mines a recent purchase (and first vw) in same colour.
Check it out in General chit chat under 'good day' as i dunno how to post the pics
Cheers,Lee
