I'm in Melbourne, I need to get my car lowered.
Any recommendations or ideas on what the best way to go.
How many inches to drop it?
What price shoud I pay?
What's the best kit to use?
Do you plan on DIY or get a shop to do it?
Plan to get shop to do it
Does it have struts, or is it Beam front?
If struts, then there is a few good pics of people of late fitting them to their super bugs in members rides
Strut front end.....I had a look at the other thread thanks
last page in this one, its currently 50mm lower than stock

a 72 should have 3 bolt struts
Late 74+ has 2 bolt.
3 bolt can drop more then 2 bolt
If you get a thin spring strut now it will open a whole world of wheels you can run
I presently run 205 x 16" under stock guards
Struts cost about $1000. Depends what you get. I got mne from V Force. They are V Force ones in the picture.
Fitting takes an hour or 2
Then you need a wheel alignment
Consider doing ball joints and putting a poly kit through the front end while you are at it.
Also look here for ideas.

Al the parts are here.
Would it be cheaper to lower the front that had struts(ie-super )or older standard models that have the Beam front ends. that maybe require drop spindles, narrowed beams. etc.etc.Thanks................
depends how handy u are
if u have a welder u can drop both about 2.5" for nothing
but better way to do it is weld adjusters in to beams or fit adjustable struts so u can tweak the height to whatever u like with in the adjusters
range
I'm not handy at all anymore, after a work accident.bending out of the question.since i am looking for another car which i would like to lower. it seems like the adjuster struts might work out cheaper, than going with a narrowed and adjustable beam what with labour cost's.going to have to rely on a shop since i cant do stuff like that nowadays.still undecided. maybe keep looking for another type 3.
what about the rear?
IRS have unhealthy camber when lowered (unhealthy to the tyrewear)

i dont know about swing axle but i have IRS and i tried lower the back so it was practically on the rubber stopper and i measured ~10 degree camber (spirit level)
You obviously haven't seen the rear camber of a slammed Swing Axle.
dear lord...
IRS camber out to when lowered too
mines running about 3-4 degrees and its on the bumpstops well b4 i cut them down anywayz
sounds like the pivot bolt shims mightnt be setup right for it to be that bad
ive heard of ppl flipping the trailing arms and rewelding the shock mounts to help restore some +ve camber
