The boot lid spring does not hold the lid up when it is open, and as long as I've had the car it has never done so.

The spring is there but I can't figure out how it should be fitted or even if something is missing

I was hoping that somebody might be able to take a snap shot of their spring arrangement so I can compare with what I have.

The engine bay did have a fire in it which may have effected the tension in the spring, and thus not strong enough to hold the lid, but I don't think so.

Any ideas on this one would be appreciated as I'm guessing here.
