1962 1200 Beetle
1 owner purchased in QLD and driven to Tassie when its owner moved. Was used and registered up until 1996 and has sat in the old ladies back yard
since then.
I have known about this bug for a couple of years as I bought my first bug from this lady (my rough 63 was her deceased husband's dub) and asked at
the time if I could purchase hers at the same time. It was not for sale at the time.
In the last month before Christmas the owner said that 3 different people had knocked on her door asking to buy it. Finally realising it was beyond
her to have it restored she gave me a call before christmas. I picked it up the other day.
Despite its external appearance it is very solid. No structural rust in the pillars no serious rust in the pan - some surface rust in the battery
area! Has a ding in the door and the RHS rear guard both done by other people according to the PO. It runs, gearbox is tight, no brakes!
I am very privileged to have been allowed to own this bug as I love its history and have both the husband and wife's bugs. She was very teary as I
drove away!
I have not been a fan of Rats but I think I will run this one as a rat once I have given the suspension and running gear a good once over.
'67 1300 Deluxe still for sale - funds needed to get this one up to rego!!!!
Any suggestions/ things to look for most welcome.
