Door hinge pin removal

I am looking at putting a hinge pin mirror on the 65 beetle.
What is the best way to remove the door pin?
I have heard it is a hard task. I have been told you have to heat the hinge, which would burn the paint ( still in primer so no probs).
The other was not to heat and use an impact tool or a punch. Do you do this with door on or off car, does not seem to be a lot of clearance between
hinge and door to swing hammer.
Suggestions?

its best to remove the door from the car and get some mates to help you hold the door
the hinge has to be supported there is a tool that can also be used
if you carnt do yourself then take it to vintage to get the job done correctly you may need an over size pin and the hinge has to be reamed out

I checked a few places to get it done.....surprised...... not cheap!

Yes, easy to damage door...
Best is a tool that was made for the job...
I've never actually seen one but there must be one somewhere????
other then that, take the door to get the pins pressed out with a press....
I'd like to replace My drivers door hinge pins too...
without taking any paint off...
I just thought why they have oversize pins....
its for the door part of the hing which wears.....

Proposition : If I were to buy one of these tools, would people pay $25 or so to borrow it for the week-end. May also need a refundable deposit to
cover me in case it didn't return. I have already emailed the maker to obtain shipping quote.
