I just bought my first Bug, '63 model, but the driver's side windscreen wiper is a bit dodgy! Works every now and again and then just dies. Passenger side is fine - any suggestions??

look for dodgy groundings under the front, check the switch, and if all fails get it to a VW shop to fix it, i've just had my wipers fixed by vintage vee dub, and it is worth it!!

If the left hand side works OK and the rght hand is i.s shonky look for a slipping wiper arm or weak spring clip giving low pressure on the arm on the right hand shaft as both sides are driven from one motor

Sounds like the wiper arm may just need tightening. I think it is a 12mm nut at the base where it attaches to the pivot.
