Brake Rotors
71-BEETLE-SEDAN - July 13th, 2009 at 11:37 AM
is there any reason why i couldnt buy a set of disc rotors form supercheap auto or repco and put them on my bug. I have noticed that most rotors for
bugs have a large cylinder joining the wheels to the rotor where the type at supercheap are only smaller in width.
This may sound stupid but i was just wondering.

Beetle discs have integral hubs. Bit where the wheel bearings fit. Most modern cars have a seperate hub and brake disc. The disc gets sandwiched
between the roadwheel and hub when the wheel bolts are done up.
You can still get your discs from Repco or supercheap but they'd have to order them in for you and they'll probably cost more.

order a new set of front bearings and seals too at the same time... as you will need to press them into the new rotor.
as said, its the hub at the same time. you can press em in at home... just have a nice size socket and hammer... thump it home, doesn't take too much
pressure. I just did one 30 mins ago...

Why not just buy them from one of the supporters of the forum, they spend a lot of dollars supporting us and I see no reasnon that we shouldn't do
the same.Supercheap(in a name only) as far as i am concerned do nothing for anyone but themselves.I know that I am leaving myself open but i stand by
my comments. Les

I agree dude. Super, um not really, cheap, well cheap chinese crap for the 'cheap' tools etc but otherwise they're only a few dollars cheaper on
other things then Repco and Autobarn but not by much esp oil and filters etc.
I will admit that their SWC sockets etc are pretty good quality for the price. Way better than KingChrome. And I stand by that as I think KingChrome
is WAY overpriced.
Opps, sorry for the bitch

I don't really think that kinchrome is over prices, I think snap-on are over priced!
anyway, I think 71 should buy new rotors from classic (who I highly recomend!) of vintage, but links easily found on this site. Just give them a call
and say what your doing, and what your car is, and you should hopefully get what you need. trying using the site first!
