Stainless Steel bumpers - are they any good?
Uber Kafer - December 1st, 2009 at 03:56 PM

Hi volks, we are doing up a couple of beetles and would like to hear what those new stainless bumpers are like? I guess they are all coming from the same factory in asia, so it wouldnt matter where you buy them from.

Whats the quality like?
Do they seem to be thick enough, not flimsy thin?
Are they a good fit, do the bolts line up etc?

I would appreciate an help as I cant go and look at any of them in a shop, I am on the other side of the island of Oz.

Hi
I haven't seen any of them either...
ask whoever is selling them a few questions...
where they are made? etc.. do they rust?

The Brazillian bumpers are very thin and really offer no protection at all...
and they do rust rather quickly... although waxing them weekly will keep the rust away...
and that still depends on which factory made them??

If they are early Beetles with over riders etc.. the bumpers in S/S will be a different color...

Stainless steel blade bumpers were used on 1967 Custom beetles made in Australia.. [replaced the standard beetle]
had no over riders etc...
