Adding Blinkers to 1959 [not 64] tail lights
Chop Top VW - July 8th, 2010 at 07:21 PM
Does anyone know if i can modify my 64 tail lights so that they can have a blinker inside. Are clear lenses available to buy.
I really dont like the blinkers that are on the car know, and since im doing a full resto, i would like to eliminate the current blinkers and include
them inside the light.
Any advice would be goo.

Ok so from the engine lid its a 63 or so
Why dont you just buy a set of 40hp 62 to 67 taillights and housing to fit onto the guards then u can remove the seperate indicators and Oval
tailights

I really like those style of light, and im trying to keep if I can
I even thought of driling those ones and adding a LED light in the middle if I can find anything else.

They are early beetle tail lamps...
the lenses are GLASS... and no clear lenses...
Look around for some blinkers that will cover the hole You have
but are oval in shape?? or whatever you like...
or put Motor bike blinkers above the bumper bar...
many people use them....
cheers

I think I know what you want to do - have blinkers in the early (snowflake) tail lights?
American cars had the rear blinkers in the stop light, so that the rear blinker was red. This was done using a special relay that made the stop light
flash (red).
Not sure if this is legal here, although there are plenty of older cars getting around with that set-up

As an original set up the FC holden used to flash the brake light on the rear, not sure how you would go with current RTA rules as a retrofit.

Front window looks a bit ovalish, photo of dash??
i had snowflakes on the rear of my 1500. i opted for Harley Davidson bullet indicators.
