So, the new baja is trying to run on only 3 cylinders, something up with #1. I will coax it back to life Friday with any luck... and some good
advice.
As I try to start it (which is difficult at the moment) it occassionaly throws some flames out the top of the carb (there's no air filter yet). It is
a Weber DFV (probably) if that helps.
I'm hoping that the tappets are off and the timing out, but I realise it may be a stuck valve or worse. What do you think?
See if doing a valve adjustment and resetting the timing cures it. Do the valve adjustment first. That's possibly all it is and hopefully not a burnt
valve.
If the problem is still there a compression test will tell you if there is a serious issue. Hope this helps.
put air filter on
Own VWs with webbers pop alot when cold .
check tuning
if they pop when cold its because they are running lean, adjust your idle mixture or increase the pilot jet size

hehehe......loosen the exhaust as well then
i had something like that happened to my dgv5a .. turned out it was fouled plugs
but before that happened i was running on SU then swap back to the weber that i made a new manifold for..
so now it sit the float side is to the front
and i kept changing the jets...
then i found out it was the plugs
Better still, throw the 2litre cortina carby in the bin and put a genuine one on it cheers shane.
Just had a look at the other post
No choke
no heat riser
Winter in Oberon
No chance
I cleaned the plugs and it runs fine now.
I had two of my daughters driving me around the paddock yesterday - so I can confirm it can reach 30 mph!
Awesome! *sarcasm*
