1954 OVAL
vwsteve - October 11th, 2010 at 10:25 AM

I finally got 1 of my 54 ovals home on the weekend, this is 1 of 2 i purchased of a fella i know who does not have the time to finnish it, i actually done a sandblasted full body off on rotiserie resto on this car for the previous owner over 10 years ago,the resto took approx 2 years,it sat untouched for 10 years in his shed, the previous owner bought heaps of gear for it over the years but never assembled it.
Purchase included:
all new upholstered interior except carpet
all new rubbers
new running boards with new wide strips
new chrome bumpers
new heart t/light lenses
powdecoated seat frames, column, gearstick etc
spare reco gearbox
spare low klm 54 engine
spare 54 car

Work still needed:
the body was recently lifted back on, i need to remove it and paint the pan
the previous owner had a heap of blankets covering it, unfortunately a couple of those blankets must have been used to mop up a liquid of some sort which has started eating into the paint a little on half the roof and rear apron so i will try to denib it and polish it out but not sure if its too late, i may need to paint the roof again...BUGGER!

This is what the resto started as, it was used as a farm hack for many years. It was also owned by the 1 family i think since new from memory.

Do you have any plans on getting it finnished and will you be going stock or custom rebuild?

vwsteve - October 12th, 2010 at 08:19 AM

i ned to extend my front deck out first and build in under it for more garage space, once that is done i will have the space to lift the body back off and finish it, it will remain 100% stock standard.

Hey did you get this from Mr Been? I ask as I think I picked them up from your place and moved them to his shed, i did not think he would have ever got round to fixing them up.
