1956 Beetle VIN

Heres a question for the gurus..

What year beetle is this? I think it comes out at JAN '56

1096363 on the VIN plate..

MKA11412 - Who can decipher this one.

yep thats correct

the MKA number is a body assembly number by Martin and King it dont mean anything

The chassis number is the important one

cheers Dave .. I am not great on beetle colours.. but this looks to be coral red(give or take a few patch jobs), and that suits the year

It was built in Feb 56. The last chassis built in January was 1 089 519.
The MKA number is consistent with CKD cars assembled around that time.

Thankyou gentlemen.. picked up a decklid today from another gentleman .. and a few other bits needed. I will get as much of the original paint back to original and go from there.
