Hi Guys,how are we.
Just chasing a bit of info.
first of all.I have been looking around for a new tank for my beetle. After contacting several suppliers(all have been terrific) it seems its
hard to get RHD fuel tanks.Just wondering if anyone else has succeeded in locating a new RHD Beetle tank.
Second, just personal opinion, but what type of door trim do most of you prefer eg,tmi,?
Look forward to your feedback.
Jas.

I'm sure your not going to get a new RHD tank on these shores mabey mexico but you'll be paying for it if you ship one. Whats wrong with refinishing
a second hand tank? Clean it inside and out respray the outside run a por 15 tank kit through it. even better than new. and correct to your model
year.
Interior there's many options, rule of thumb you get what you pay for.

Mr.Bubble Head, does that really work?
I am certain, my tank needs to be replaced or repaired.
But, was never sure how well a repaired tank would function.
Time to do some research on the POR 15 Tank Kit.
Thanks.

Is there actually a difference between LHD and RHD tanks for standard beetles?
Its been years since I've owned one but I seem to remember the bottom of the tank being pretty symmetrical like Superbugs.

I can't remember with 100% certainty but I did have my tank out recently (71 super) and I believe that it had a different shape for where the
steering column passes underneath?
Edit: maybe the filler is on the other side for LHD models.

My current tank has already been through the ringer.
its got a big bit of solder on the bottom from previous owner,
then another hole filled by us,then another holed puttied up.
That is why i am chasing a new one.just always in the back of my mind
Is tmi the best trims out there?

Nah fillers are on the right side regardless.
Super tanks are definately not RHD/LHD specific, they all have the indentation underneath for the steering columns on both sides and I'm pretty sure
standards are the same.
Jason what makes you think you need a new tank anyway?
They hardly ever rust, the ones that do are usually on cars that have rusted far worse than the tanks have.

Cool Joel my memory was a little bit smoggy from then. Has anyone fitted one of those aftermarket spun aluminium fuel tanks?
such as
http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.chircoestore.com/catalog/im...
I am considering this to tidy up the spagetti of vent hoses and the like, might be the sort of thing Jason is after?
