Hi
check the carby isn't leaking...
or any black smoke near one of the 4 exhaust ports or heater boxes or where the exhaust fits onto the muffler...

also check the rubber boots on the inlet manifold.... and the
heater up riser pipes going under the carburetor manifold for leaks...

also check Your Distributor rotor to see how much play is in the distributor shaft... in case its moving round..

air leaks really make a VW engine play up....

distributor cap located on the dissy correct...

wipe around the coil terminals with methylated spirits
I also do inside My dissy caps too...

Best of luck

LEE

it could also be the accelerator pump diaphram in the carby...

Is it a new developement? as in the car was driving fine and just started doing it? or something you're trying to get running thats been laid up/pulled apart?

Pull the aircleaner off and look down the throat while giving the throttle a pump.
Make sure the discharge tube of the accelerator pump shoots a jet of fuel down the throat.

ok update runs fine and revs fine when cold only plays up when it gets warm

Mate maybe you have her sorted by now, just my ten cents worth, coil or something that some people don't often check because they don't often play up, ballast resistor off the coil.
(If it is a ballast resistor coil that is?)

I might be wrong but could you have the firing order wrong? check that the leads are in the right place?
and your timing

Thanks

Would have just been a piece of crap blocking the idle jet doing that.
They run sweet till the auto choke starts to open.

If its running fine now hopefully it's dislodged and carried on its way.
