Wow thats tidy, certainly wasn't expecting that engine, was thinking just a 1200.
What size is it?

Also that generator is out of alignment, needs to be rotated 90degrees clockwise so the bearings get cooling air.

I'm really stoked with this one.
I sold my 60 Ghia 3 moths ago to buy a split kombi that I have wanted since getting into VW's 3 years ago.
Times and situations change,so I consolidated,sold the bus last week (for no profit,so I'm not a flipper.Shut up Chris) and was on the hunt for something I could restore (to a point)
Found something then got shafted buy the seller 2 days before I saw this 58 at SA Day of VW.
I saw it come in on the trailer,went and had a look straight away,asked if I could buy it without the Sprintstars,then handed over a deposit within a few minutes.
The previous owner obviously loved it and did some nice subtle touches.Indicators in the rear grilles and headlights, aerial in rear grille also etc.
Its a 1600 dual port with 36mm Webers.Apparently its a stock engine but I won;t know till it gets freshend up with bigger cc's.
It drives so well and tight,so itll stay this way for a little while anyway.

A DUB 4.5 beam is getting built within weeks though

Joel,cheers mate,I wouldnt have noticed that.Gunna get an alternator in the near future but will do as you advise

You wont have it long enough to freshen it up, let alone build it bigger! Bloody Flippers...

But really... Great buy mate, You know im not a big beetle man, but that thing is damn nice... Now you have one, im tempted to sell mine...
