Just about ready to lift the body from the chasis on a 70's beetle any little secrets I should know about while lifting
and has any one welded the passenger heater rail lower door hinge mount and the kick panel in before if so got any tips thanks

I have mine currently raised in the shed.
Remember to take off heater cables all four. Disconnect all wiring under rear seat. Remove the two front brake lines through body. Did you have all those?

the heater cables are 2 of the controls next to hand brake if that is wat your talking wheres the other 2
Brake lines have not done them yet but i knew i would have to
electricals played around in there will have a closer look at the box on the passenger side

did a drivers side a pillar inc. heater channel and hinge.

Brace up the body and dash prior to cutting to maintain body geometry/shape as its a structural panel.
Take careful note of position, such as that the lower hinge is out forward enough to make sure the door when closing doesn't end up kissing the door sill everytime you close it. Make sure it doesn't go too far out either.

Do note that some aftermarket repair panels are made a bit 'cheaply'. the metal band/clip that holdes the hinge bolt threads is soemtimes only gently tack welded to the point a few knocks in the process of fitting can break the weld. It would be a real bugger if that hinge thread plate fell out with the a pillar already fitted. Be a nasty 'fishing out' job.
