help with tyre sizes
surfpig - September 17th, 2011 at 07:05 PM

hi,
i am trying to decide which tyres i could get for my stock 15" wheels on my bug.

it is pretty low, and its rubbing on the passenger headlight bucket pretty bad everytime i try to turn right. i basically can only turn a little bit with a passenger in the car.

so i am thinking of 145/65 orrrr 165/45. now ive had a look on the samba and crap and some people reckon the 165/45 is stupid and other think its alright on a slammed bug. and im not really too keen on hammering the headlight buckets.

and would those two tyre choices be smaller or wider or thinner than a 135? cause thats whats on there now.

cheers guys

I looked on the samba, at the tyre and suspenson thread they have stickied,
Most of the americans seem to be running 135's on the front.
I am deciding on tyres at the moment too, i think i will end up with 145's on the front, rears are yet to be decided.

do you think about the fact that your car is not roadworthy and should not be driven on public roads with such restrictions with the steering, it is not only you that you are indangering but everybody else

yeah thats cool, but the car is about 2-3 inches off the ground at the moment, if that and has 135's on it... i know i would get defected.

yeah rhett ive just ordered some wheels from cip1 and they should be here this week and ill be going the 145/65 with 165r15 on the back
