1 1/2" CSP Python on type 1 - very spoilt now.
Uber Kafer - October 6th, 2011 at 02:34 PM

just fitted a 38mm ( 1 1/2" ) CSP Python on a recond 1600 type 1. I will probably never buy any other system again. It was so well made it virtually jumped onto the engine. We did it with the engine still in the car so it would normally have been a pain, but this thing went together beautifully. I put the smallest of the 3 tuning cones in and it just transformed the engine (and car).

The old system looked ok too, well made, solid, tuned lengths. I didnt realise a good system could be so much better..

Guess I will be looking for some 40 IDFs now..

what did it cost? Do you have any pics?

got it from CIP1 in US. Took advantage of one of their 10% discount offers, but that has just finished.

Photo and pics here:

Got the matching heater boxes too, detailed on the same page.

But the whole package really makes a lot of the other stuff look very trashy.

Nice!! CSP stuff is generally top notch.

Do you have any pic's of it installed on your car?

What was your previous system?

Did you test it without the cone insert?

previous system was stock heater boxes, ( fairly new, european OEM) and a reasonably solid, tuned length, steel header into a 4 into 1 collector and a hotdog style muffler. All in good nick, engine in good tune.

I havent tested it without the cone insert, but its on the list 'to do', because it is so simple, especially if I can con my son into doing the spanner work. Its a 3 bolt flange, too easy. I have a mid sized cone to test and then do a test without cone. But I just wanted to get it running with maximum back pressure so I could drive to and from work and get a feel for driveability. I will need to re-tune the carb to compensate for the changed backpressure etc.

But, out of the box, the improvement is amazing in terms of smoothness, driveability. and you can use the full rev range without attracting attention.

I will work on some pics though, its a piece of art.
