Stock Wheel Width

Random question, what's the width of a standard wide 5 steelie?

I'm interested in fitting a set of wider steel rims to my '64 than I already have fitted (currently have the standard steel 5x205), and wondered what I should be looking for.

the standard width was 4 inches...

You can go to around 6 inches wide...

it depends on the offset of the wheels...

You will find VW wheels are expensive as they don't fit anything else...

lots of 14 inch wide mag wheels about... as 15 inch wasn't common in the 70s

most common wide wheels are the wide 5 stud which you have...

there would be many about ...

Cheers, thanks Lee.

In that case my next question arises - is there anyone in Australia that sells the 6 inch new, or am I going to have to source 2nd hand?

You can get the porsche 5.5" steel wheels in 205 x 5 in chrome or painted, better of with the painted so you can get them powder coated, you can here the chrome one's rust in the box.
