59 Euro Beetle Karmann Kabriolett

Hey there,

I'm pretty new to this site, I've had a 59 Beetle Karmann for about 18 months now after reconditioning the engine, it's a bit of a rat but still looks pretty funky so doesn't need a full restoration just yet.

I need to ask advice, seeing as it's about to hit the road again, Shannons are asking what agreed market price I should put on it, does anyone have any thoughts? I was thinking $25k but someone mentioned that it should be insured for more than that, really? Not that i'd consider selling it but I can't find anything on the net to compare it too.

Any advice that's offered would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Andy.

Speak to them, and see if they will consider $40K. Heaven forbid it turns to dust, but replacement is almost impossible.

They way I look at insurance is, what will it cost me to start from scratch and replace what could be lost.
Do the sums. Get quotes from professional tradespeople for bodywork, paint, interior, mechanical, electrical etc.
I'll guarantee you it will cost more than $25K.

Nice ride by the way:cool:

Make sure you get 'salvage rights' in the deal. The chassis & body numbers are the valuable things - most other parts can be replaced.

I have agreed value of $34000 and salvage rights on my 69 karman beetle.
