1969 auto beetle
BugsyMalone - November 12th, 2011 at 09:34 PM
My beetle arrived today thanks to Bushed(Berni), although being a auto the shifter looks alot like a manual shifter. So what is the shift pattern????
I had it in a forward gear, not sure which one, but it had a hell of a time climbing my driveway, which aint that steep?
Can anyone help me out????

SOUNDS LIKE DRIVE 2 GEAR... it has LOW Drive 1 Drive 2
I;ll see if I can find the diagram... on My ashtray...
normally You use LOW for Your driveway...
Drive 1 & drive 2 on the road.. although Low gets You going fast... lol
REVERSE................................................. DRIVE ONE
push down and forward .............NEUTRAL
LOW GEAR .................................................DRIVE TWO
IN TRAFFIC i LIKE TO START OUT IN low GEAR AND BEAT THE OTHER CARS AND THEN GO INTO DRIVE 2....
the 3 gears are the same as 2nd 3rd and 4th in a manual transmission. 1st gear is not needed...
clutch doesn't slip.... its either IN or OUT...
this happens every time You move the gearshifter forwards or backwards..

And you will have to push the gearstick down before putting it into reverse position for it to go into gear.
