the wheel has turned, the Mexican and Brazilian stuff is now positioned in the middle of the market, as ( some of ) the Chinese made $hit is now the worst stuff on the market.
As for the best suppliers?, well they are the ones that will tell you exactly which country the product is made in, up front. They wont engage in word games and call it 'German Quality' when its actually made in China by a company with a Germanic sounding name.
And they wont substitute with a cheap chinese product because they realise they dont have the brand name item in stock that you rang and specified.

Note to parts suppliers, random substitution is a serious no-no, and is seriously bad karma.

Buy your parts directly from the states, i just had a experence were a australian retailer, did not answer my emails even after two phone calls to him about the parts required, got them out of the states quicker and cheaper, emails answered promptly, i do not think the Australian seller realise there oposition is in the US not Australia.

You clearly didn't give Al and the gang a call at Das Resto Parts, best service in Australia!

Hi MIKE,
Where are You located??

Wolfsburg automotive in Victoria have just about ALL rubbers and if they aren't good enough they have them made to their specs... all the ones I've bought have been great.
west coast metric do use some Brasilian parts..
[from a fellow who worked there]

there are many factories pushing out Brasilian parts.. some are crap-- some aren;t too bad and some are rather good.
the hard part is getting the good stuff... wherever it may come from..
there are no brasilian brand names that I know of..

some USA parts suppliers list where the parts come from..
OE - Original equipment manufacturer

German made - USA made - Brasil made --Mexican made

reproduction part - can be made China- Taiwan- USA etc

in Australia... its much harder - sometimes You buy a part and its great, so You order another one.. but its been made by a different manufacturer.. maybe still from Brasil...??
but slightly different...??

so, its difficult...
I have bought from most places in Australia over the past 20 years... but buy most stuff from Micks motors in Brisbane..

naturally I haven't bought from the newer shops that have opened in the last couple of years..

cheers

LEE

Hi guys,
Located in vic....
great advice...
classicveedub.com any good? Where is wolfsburg west.located?

MISS VDUB - January 30th, 2012 at 05:18 PM

We used to buy all our parts from George at Classic Vee Dub, but have become increasingly frustrated with his unreliability, thats even after years of our service. We will still buy from him over many other suppliers, but Das Resto Parts will get our service as number one hands down!

Mike give Alan at Unique Auto Parts a call,1800337423 (I think) they carry a good range of parts,if you tell your supplier that you want quality parts it will help them help you. I alsp use Tooley Imports in Hornsby 94762888,Micks Motors ,Vollks.com and a few others as needed.
