Gday
I know of a 1970 beetle convertable for sale, and was wondering if its an factory convertable, or converted?
Did they come from the factory as convertables, if so how do I tell?
Its got a twin port motor and swing axle gearbox, I dont know much about beetles,
If it is a factory convertable what would I expect to pay?
And if its a conversion, what would I expect to pay?
Its in largely restorable condition, interior removed seats out doors and guards off.
Any opinions valued,
cheers Chris
post a pic is the easiest way.
Id say $500 bucks if you can drive it away.
A real karmann would cost about $20,000 for a good one, a beetle with the roof removed with a mattock is basicly worthless, just another good beetle distroyed
Ok cool
vw060, how would I know if its a karmann?
I assume karmann is the factory cabrio??
Are there any identifiable marks I dont recall seeing any badges?
Again thanks for assitance
Chris
The quickest genuine only item is , if the rear side windows wind up and down and if not , as said above it's just anothewr worthless chopper
Type in 'vw beetle karmann' in your Google search, and look at images. You will see the factory built ones have a quarter circle window where the rear side glass would be. This winds up and down and meets with the front door glass. All proper and good.
ok will look, but from memory, dont think it has rear windows...
oh well
cheers Chris

It won't be a cab, it would have been snapped up long ago if it was.
You can almost count how many real cabs are in the country on one hand, yet chop top bugs were pumped out by the 1000s in the 80s and early 90s
Anyway swing axle is the first clue it isn't a cab.
cool, handy to know
