Hey guys just posting a few pics of the 1963 bug i just found on gum tree. I only paid 800 looks pretty original and they previous owners gave me heaps of spares including original bumpers, indicators, badges and like 5 sets of headlights. Just missing the wolfsburg badge on the bonnet... If anyone knows where i could get one from at a reasonable price could you please pm me. Anyway take a look and let me know what u think.
rubbed back to bare metal and etch primed
and again
Looks good, What are the plans?
well the people who owned it before me tried to restore it and cut all of the wiring, the body is back to metal and etch primed, taking the shell of and re painting the chassis... pretty much a complete resto.
finally decided on a colour, what do you guys think?
things are starting to finally come back together
awesome colour, what motor is that?
1300 from a 71
Sweet color, that's going to look awesome on your bug.
Great colour choice!

looking really nice Peter when do you hope to spray the body?
It's going to take a while, body has gone in for welding repairs only costing around 600. Then i'm going to putty spray, under coat in 2 pac and wet rub then should be all good for painting in probably around a month or two.
Prepping the guards and need a little feedback, what colour should i paint the inside of the arches? i was thinking black but i'm not sure
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but if you want to go 'factory look'.
Inside the wheel arches, under the guards etc, should be same colour as body.
Yeah i was thinking the same, but it isn't really going to be seen and if i did get it painted inside the wheel arches it is probably going to cost me quite a bit more than i am already paying
Go the body colour under the guards IMO.
It shouldn't cost too much more.
Everything is already off and the prepwork doesn't need to be as detailed as on top.
Throwing black under there is for cleaning up a crappy car really quick
Heater channels and front inner pannels are being replaced.
does anyone know how to remove rust convertor? from paint with out stripping it back to metal again?
decided to change my colour choice to pearl white with blue metallic flakes. i'll post pics of the progress.
