We recently picked up a 66 VW. The engine number is F0212430. Does this number tell me any engine specs. (apart from the F for Flat). We know a little history but do not know if it is the original mtor or not. Any help would be great.

If its a bug then there's a pretty good chance it's original.

F was 1300 single port which started in 66 in aus and yours is a fairly low number.

As for what it is now, you won't know till its pulled down, many have been pumped up 1500 and 1600 during rebuilds.
