I have been looking at a few different bugs lately as I'm in the market to get a project car.

The one I looked at today (which I'm quite keen on) has no vin number plate in the spare tyre well and I'm not sure about the chassis number under the back seat. I am being told it is a 61 and I have checked on thesamba.com but am unsure where this car fits in. This is a pick of the number found under the back seat, I would love your opinion on what year the car is and what I should do.

number matches to around 63 according to 3 different websites
