I have about 10 Manuals- Workshop - owners etc.

One of the Best that comes to mind is ;
guide to purchase and restoration VW BEETLE & TRANSPORTER
by lindsay Porter

showing History, Buying,Specs, Bodywork, Mechanics, Interior, electrics & modifications.. EXCELLENT PICS Haynes F474

I'll have to take a pic of it with other books..

You have some oldies there... lol.

The Australian SP/Gregory's manual for Beetles isn't bad .
I would recommend having one of those. they are on ebay all the time.. also had them for type 3s and Kombis..type 2s

well, a few years ago.. I did buy a few manuals and VW books..

here is a pic of most of the manuals..

One book not here is a small sized book that I bought used thru amazon.com in the USA..
Whoever used the book , worked on their beetle engine with very greasy fingers, or black oily fingers.. so the engine pages have black fingermarks on them... lol

The haynes handbook is a great little book for anyone who buys a beetle and doesn't know anything about their car..

it shows just about how to do everything, like how to change a wheel.. change a fan belt.. tyres, brakes etc..

cheers

The late John Muir wrote the VW beetle guide for the compleat idiot.. yes, compleat was spelled like that???

He wasn't a mechanic He just wrote books.. I have read the book but don't own a copy.. He did make things look easy and showed you how to do things.. all shown with drawings..

However He said that the VW automatic choke was a bad thing as the extra fuel washed away the oil in the cylinders
which would cause them to wear badly...

I haven't heard of anyone else stating that... lol

many AVD members would own a copy of that book as its probably the most read VW Manual...

You can find them now & then on Ebay or some VW parts shops would sell them..
