My 73 Kombi dash with type 3 clock fitted
pfillery - March 17th, 2013 at 03:09 PM

So I had this crazy idea that a type 3 clock was somewhat close to a kombi dash hole size. Kombi clocks being like the proverbial rocking horse poo, or being made from solid gold going by some of the prices, I thought I'd give it a go. Really simple, just takes some time and patience. And to keep all the purists happy, no visible modification or damage to either the dash or the clock. So both can be returned to their original states if needed. It is a really nice flush fit and looks factory and great for the budget conscious.

I'm pleased with the result. What do you think?

Nice.

A guy on theSamba was selling type 3 clocks converted to Quartz movement. Maybe a good mod as I've never seen an original one that actually kept time.

Fantasic and would probably look even more in place in an early bay as they have that silver middle circle bit like the tye 3 clock.

I would also agree about the lack of time keeping with old VW clocks and why I ditched the whole clock idea and went for a tacho instead.
