So there is a lowlight single cab up the road and I'm thinking about approaching the guy who owns it. I haven't seen it moved/touched for years and
years if ever...
From seeing it from the foot path:
- paint looks average (looks to be original)
- few moderate dents in the nose
- surface rust around vents on side
- standard height
- looks pretty straight
- no major rust from a visual (obviously haven't looked underneath)
- unregistered
- not undercover (been there for years, I have never seen it moved)
- old wooden gates (not original)
- glass looks fine
- headlights, mirrors, seals look decent
- look to be original bumpers no obvious repair or damage
thoughts on price?
assuming there's not too much rust...
i bet he says his gonna do it up one day
$4k would be a reasonable/generous offer. But it all depends o the rust. If there is none the value goes up, a lot and down it goes
I just got 79 SC for $3450 , In good condition
depends if it lowlites and orig gd eng and box
seals would have to hve been replaced to be really good!!
these can have lots of rust beneath the tray !!
Worst thing is if any of the seals have been leaking, and they usually have been. Then the water from the rain over all the years has been collecting inside, and the entire floor could be rusted from the inside. Then it gets to a point where it can be not worth getting unless you can replace the whole floor.
Start at $500 .. But if its been sitting in plain view I'd say its not for sale but doesn't hurt to ask ..
$4k hmm sounds like I've got some saving to do. The seals look good but from 10-15 metre distance...so they could be all hard and cracked up close.
The people who own it could say no and that's fine I just thought it's worth a try if it's been stagnant for a long time.
tackling a whole floor would be interesting.. . Considering I haven't had much welding experience.. But I'll take up the challenge if the price is
good
I only want to approach once I've been bit more educated
yeah id be expecting about 3 times as much rust as you can actually see!! all the seals will probably need replacing if its been sitting out side all
that time....not cheap!
because of the non original gates thats a bit of a bargaining point for you i.e. in your favor to keep the price down.
and then theres the engine...does it have one? does it work? what will need doing on it? lots to consider and all of it comes with a price tag!
no such thing as a cheap resto if thats what your hoping for.
^ mate be honest n put ya link up for the sc you have for sale, its not that difficult
i can help if you require
soo
Been there for years in code prolly looking at a lot to do
you should pay what you n people think as you are the market

dont be fooled by roygods kombi value BS thread on combikult
it's all bullocks so he can just make more money off the unsuspecting deciples that drink the coolaide by the bucket and still smile.. Not that there
is anything wrong with that but wait there is.. oh I've left that state.. wtf?.. fools wake up to yourselves
best to go n have a friendly chat to the fella/lady n see where they are at n offer what you would be happy to pay
