I mentioned in the Classic Vee Dub thread that I'd got a Kombi Cover from german Autoxtras/Classic Vee Dub on Ebay.
Well it arrived safe and sound in only 3 working days.

Seems to be good quality and fits well.

We put it on the bus on Sunday. There is a zippered and velcroed access for each of the front doors and for a sliding door on both sides which makes it good for either left or right hand drive. Or if you're one of the lucky few to have a double slider!

Next project. Concrete slab under Kombi, Roof on shed. Finally start work on bus....

How much was it?

$135 and $15 postage.

We had strong, gustywind this week. Swirling and all directions. Some gusts were up towards 100kmh. Trees over fences damaged.
Result - Kombi cover intact and not even stressed!

Can you tell me if it is a really tight fit or is there any slack in the cover for it to move around a bit?

It doesn't seem to move at all Scott. The tabs that pass under the car to hold it tight seem to work well. Where ours is tends to get some strong swirly winds. I haven't seen it move in 80kmh winds, enough to blow trees over and lift tin rooves here. Even with our central poptop section it fits pretty snug.
I'm pretty impressed really.

Well with your recommendation and a trial fit of a Just Kampers cover, I bought one of these Classic VW covers for my new 89 T3 caravelle and it fits all except the rear bumper.

Love it -works great and just got through a nasty storm with no issue.

I'm finding the side door openings realy good as I have a heap of tools stored in the Bay. If only it had a rear door opening too!
Still not a complaint.

Yeah Baxis. I've seen a few sister buses around SA on the net since we got it. they mostly are 69s as well. even saw one with a rego number 4 numbers different same letters!
I'm assuming there was a company here fitting them out. Hope to get stuck into some work on it over christmas. Rust under the nose mainly.

Here we are 20 months on from putting the Kombi Cover on our Lowlight.
It's been on most of that time, with possibly a few weeks a couple of times folded away on the front seats. (Read that as scrunched up and thrown in).
It's faced wind, rain, 40+ heat, -4 cold, frosts, sun, duststorms and just general weather. Not a bad effort.

The cover has been off for a few weeks till this morning when I decide I had better throw it back on because we have storms forecast with the possibility of hail. ( By wedging some sheets of foam or styrofoam underneath it will protect the panels.)
Everywhere I grabbed the material to square it up and drag it into place it began pulling the fibres apart. By gently moving it I've got it in position but I'm pretty sure its heading towards the end of it's usefulness. Another year might be asking to much.
My guess is that it is UV exposure that has caused the damage to the material.

The cover has now found a new home. The storms in October killed it, leaving it shredded. Most of the problem seams to be a lack of UV resistance. This type of cover would be best as a dust cover in an enclosed carport or shed.
It would work well for covering during short term repairs and when windows or panels were off.
Or as I suggested earlier by putting foam spacers under it to protect from hail damage for short periods.
Its definitely not a long term out in the sun cover.

So its lasted you 2 years? Not bad, i bought an aldi one that hardly lasted me 6 months

i had the same cover and lasted 12 months outside, uv destroyed its top first and it just started shredding m/
