So here is my 72 Lowlight PMG project. Ratter. Yet another one during another resto, however this one won't need too much work. Need to sooth my
kombi withdrawals..
Some of you might remember it from Eddies Barnawartha auction.. ("What do you want that for? Its a heap of shit.")
Turns out to be one of the most rust free busses i've ever seen
New shoes..
Made up some jigs for pressing in and out the ball joints
Looks the goods mate!
Nice 72. Look forward to seeing how this turns out.
Rob,
all I can say is that you must have a sickness. Maybe not a bad sickness to have, but none the less a sickness
Look forward to seeing the end result
Kev
Nice 72 lowie.
Even the bulkhead hasnt been hacked out and I liked the sunraisias on it - the wide 5 wheels wont fit without a few mods but will look good.
Seems another great score from that auction.
Correct. 1972 model year manufactured in 1971.
Watch out Kev, could be contagious.. haha.. or maybe its already been passed on....
Time to get back on to working on the bus, after a little motivation from the vw nationals, and trying to fit it in amongst a very busy lifestyle..
Tore down the beam, narrowed to fit the new wheels correctly
Testing the Kuch's 4.5 inch drop plates on the rear
How you don't want to find your crank when you pull down the engine
Rust on the rear quarter, due to a very leaky battery, rusted out quite a bit of this area
Wheel arch lower
Made a tool for the centre pin bush on the beam
Pressed in new ball joints and correctly pressed with the VW peening tool to secure
Made this adjustable height caster wheel system, fits both split and bay, also available on the laser website.
Started in the battery tray area tonight
Quality work as usual mate 8). Mitch
Lovely 2 piece crank Kuchster!
That's a pretty solid looking crossover
Can't wait to see the end result
Want to come weld our Lowie when you've got time?
Theres a lot of hours there Rob looking like a top project
