Just got the bus ('74 Microbus) back from Indian, 3.5" lowered, new clutch, shocks, a few other things. Drove just beautifully for 48 hours, like a
dream. Then came round a corner this arvo and without a sound, suddenly there is only second gear. No other gears exist. They have left the
building.
So I put her up on the stands and had a look. The rubber bushes in the housing just in front of the box are munted, really soft and hanging out all
over. Lots of movement in that housing. What do you clever people think out there? Is that likely to be The Problem or... should I be looking for a
new box?
It's the original 1.8L donk and the box it came with that's in there. Anyone got any advice, or a 2L box for sale?
replace the linkage first, then work your way from that
Even if the bushes don't fix the problem don't panic .
It will be the the selector shaft inside the front of the box thats snapped its pin , no bigy and can be fixed without removing the box and motor .

Orright thanks folks, I'm off to have a look. I presume bits are easy enough to find - I'll make some calls termorrer. Much appreciated

I'd have a look at the plate at the bottom of the gearstick inside the cabin. Perhaps it wasn't tightened, and very easy to check/fix.
The rubber bushings in the cage were munted, hanging out all over. The nylon ball was pretty worn as well and the u-clamp inside the box was snapped.
Nothing major, thankfully. Tighter than the proverbial waterfowl now. I did check the plate but it was OK. Thanks for the advice folks.
