well this is what i`m giving up my baja for
a 1973 window van,1600 motor ,came with the obligatory huntsman since dispatched to his maker with the help of some surface spray
she looks a bit rough but is fairly solid
the most bit of rust found so far
bad repair jobs
oh and this come in the deal as well
a good parts car 2 litre 1976 model ,roof is good but right side is a bit dented, rust under front window and in places around it
parts car?? you serious.... bays that are not campers are getting to rare to make them parts cars....(everyone loves a camper, except me!!!) Nice
purchases there.
so whats the plans for them? 2 into 1? resto?
well motor and box are coming out to repower a sick dub ,rear tailgate is going on the blue one as well as lights etc ,it has no seats but plated 8 seater ,but funnily it has a qld mod plate to make it a 2 seater, the front floor is buggered ,as well as both steps, and the windscreen is going into the blue one and maybe some other bits, but yeah making one good one and giving life to others
started washing blue one with a scourer pad ,has a green colour underneath,so might hit it with the gurney and sandpaper to bring it back to og colours then colour match to that,i just want a driving bus to hell with the dents
well people should not be let out to play with bog and fibreglass.i knew the passenger side step was dodgy but this dodgy and where the hole is in the
floor had fibreglass underneath. new parts are on there way
Kombi's rock!
I wouldn't mind one, one day.
i would live in it.
So wats the plan Paul? Rat? full resto? Pimp mobile? Ghetto cruiser? :P
its been a while but been busy doing other stuff ,but to answer your question Chris ,get it roadworthy and drive it so far.. had a bit of time today
before the thunderstorm to get a little done on my windscreen repair
Hey Pod, nice to see some new buses in the club.

Look like some fun with the buses good luck see you soon on the road or at a show
well did some more after work last couple of days
ground welds and put some filler on for smoothing out
had to fix a bit up the top of the window ,saw some bubbles on the roof corner, hit them with the grinder and ended up with 2 5cent peice holes.Go with
grinder in hand to junk bus and presto new bit of roof and windscreen edge, now welded in ready for a clean up and smooth out,but how do i get the
lichen back on the repair,i suppose only time will fix that
4 hours work this arvo ,still a little more to weld on it but the step and floor repair are underway
Whoa....that new step looks a bit safer than the old piece of 'mesh' that was there!
Good job mate!
Scarab (aka: Paul)
gotta love a good rust repair panel. Lookin good!
Excellent rust repair work!
Might have to leave my kombi round at your place for a while and it might have a few less holes in it.
Well done. Great to another one being saved.
Cheers,
Scott
Lots a hard woek ahead but will be well worth it at the end
a few more pics
step and floor repair
the dogs leg ,gap is not good but its all steel
front just needs the crows feet taking off and some fresh paint ,dents and all ,as not looking for a show stopper ,just a bit ratty will do
well summer holidays have been busy re-ringing the motor ,changing the gearbox from 1600 to an 1800 one and doing a bit of de-boging where it was
already falling out
and here is it running, sounds a bit tappety but have to check them over again
looking good mate
wheels are now on ,looks like easter will be a busy time, a bit of grinding, welding and puttying then sanding ,and maybe some painting
and if you are wondering what happened to the white one
its off to kombi heaven ,and has made a few buses keep going for longer
Good stuff Pod
That has turned into a decent solid van
Damn - I wish i could weld
