This Monday will hitch up the trailer and head to Mansfield to pick up a splitty ute, I havent seen it before, all that I know is that it has some
sort of large cargo/box type arrangement as a food carrier or something from many moons back. This will be a challenge as the owner removed the
reduction boxs n axles for a shooting buggy some 20 years back, so this splitty has been sitting next to the snow fields rusting away. I am expecting
the worst, but am still excited and no matter how bad it is, it"s still coming home!!
Now to shed some light on how this all unfolded, we were at "Re Volks" down here in Geelong with our "unfinished" corvair powered bug, when my
eldest sons fiance's parents wandered through the crowd and said hello. Whilst chatting, the father points to some splitties and says, "Hey, see
those old kombi vans over there with the two front windows? I say yeah, well, down on the farm at Mansfield, we have one of those sitting there.
Hah..................... thats funny
Back from Mansfield, 63 splitty on trailer, but guess what?? it is not a single cab with a box/cargo arrangement on the back, its actually a VW
Australia built "containervan" The back section is in real bad shape and the trans & engine gone into a shooting buggy, cows have been
rubbing & nudging it over the years but the actual front cabin has no major rust, front & rear bumpers perfect and had to laugh at the rear
brass hinges as the cows did a great job of keeping them polished! have a peep at the pic and maybe look up VW "Containervan" on the net for some
info of these rare splitties cheers Frank

Good work !!
Lot's of work to do, but it would be something very different than the usual. Defintely worth saving
What does the signwriting say on the side??
Scored a few bonus extras, including the whole roof from the rag top you see in one of the pics
nice work luck man
so they cut the kombi up to make the container van??
