How strong are the 2 ltr kombi AUTO boxes?
63baja - May 9th, 2011 at 06:33 PM

Hi I know how strong the legendary 6 rib manual kombi box is in std form but I have heard nothing about the autos
I just picked up a 2 ltr auto van
Can anyone tell me if it's worth while keeping the auto or should I go Manual??
How much are they worth to sell if I was to go with the Manual??
Cheers Jade

The auto box is stronger than the 6 rib manual (010 auto) Parts are relatively easy to get and they can be modded to take fairly high horsepower. Mine is apparently rated to over 450HP but has had extensive work done to it....not by me!!!!! A second hand one can sell for between $100-$3000,depending on what the condition is and how desperate you are to get one:lol: You can also get great stuff to toughen up the 6 rib,so ultimately it will depend on what you want to do with it.

What sort of horsepower should one handle in stock form in good condition?
should it handle a standard non turbo nissan sr20 twin cam

I ask this because I was considering puting it in my Baja with an SR20

200/250 in good nik...fitting would be an issue as well>>>the 6 rib would be a lot easier to fit.

Yes, but they probably have the 4 gear planetary like the audi turbo boxes
