Thought it was time to change the bulbs in the bus so it didn't look like i was burning candles in the headlights. I went to by some nice white modern lights (thinking they were H4's) and the bulbs were totally wrong. I can't seem to find any H branding on the glass of the headlight so i'm unsre what bulbs will fit, or if you can even buy white type bulbs for these? Anyone got any clues or part numbers for good bulbs to fit?
VW use P45t bulbs, autobahn have them on the shelf
You can only get them in plain 60/55w and 100/90w but you'll need to add relays for the higher wattage ones
Our 1975 bus has 100/90 P45T bulbs, and they are great. Easy to buy. I fitted relays, and in 17 years they have been real good. Make sure you align them correctly after fitting them. It is easy, just Google it.

P45t are standard bulbs. They do make P45t replacement halogen bulbs as mentioned.
P43t are halogen bulbs with the 3 prongs (H4).
All VWs in Australia pre 1980 came with P45t standard bulbs.

They were about $17 each for Narva ones at Autobahn when I was in there last.
So i need to look for them in a halogen? My lights just seem really crap at night

Need to check your voltage at the lights first.
Even with the best bulbs in the world your headlights are still gonna suck if theres bad grounds or voltage drops.
Also what condition are the lenses and reflectors in?
40 year old glass lenses tend to have a lot of etching and sandblasting going on which really effects light output.
