Over the last couple of years I have been attempting to revive a '71 Notch back back to its former glory - getting close to a roadworthy now.
To keep me inspired during this time I have visited quite a few V Dub shows and have always had a great time checking out the mix of vehicles on
show. However , while there are always numerous numbers of beetles, bugs, buses and buggies present there are rarely any Type 3s. (There were acres
of vehicles at the Abbey last weekend - but only 2 type 3s when I went through).
So - because they so hard to see in the flesh - how about posting just one photo of your Type 3? I'd enjoy to see some more of the squares,
fastys and notches that are out there. Maybe a little back story about the car as well.
I'll kick it off...
Jan '71Notch-been off the road since 2002. Resto work commenced in 2013.
2 pac respray in Shantung.
Matching numbers - completely stock. (Any grandma would feel quite comfortable driving it).
New TMI interior. ISP West just about everything else.
Original VW stamped perspex weathershield.
Down the track - Maybe some alloy rims - or dress rings on current wheels. Keeping it stock .
Here's a 72 Square for you to look at !!!!!
Its For Sale........... PM me for the details.........
I owned and drove this 73 Square for 5 years, unfortunately I was taken out from behind while stopped on the way home from work last November. Now I
too drive a shantung 71 Notch, dead stock and original, needs a little TLC, but is also my daily driver.

Hey ~ it was you that got that ratty square! I almost bought that before my fasty! Whats it like?
Love the blue square. . Just picked up a 65.
under the black seat covers was a fairly decent salt and pepper interior. . No too much cancer. Originally mouse Grey but has been repainted at some
point a lighter color.
Runs nicely, converting back to wide 5 with discs. Going to rego as is after necessary repairs.

My type 34 Ghia, a great car.
Picked up our 71 Notch Auto from Caboolture. Short drive home to Peterborough was great, ran as smooth as you like. Everywhere we stopped someone
would come over to tell us they had had a Type 3 in their lives.
10 months and still going strong.

Was a 65 and a 64 when I looked at them last year in Bathurst. I can't remember which one was which. Glad someone finally made a car out of one of them. One was Gulf Blue & the other one Sea Blue. Found by Sam Hutchins "Aussiekombihunter" on Instagram.

Seems like all the Type 3 have been hiding in back yards and paddocks!
Reckon we should be getting them all back together. Imagine a show with as many Notches, Fasties and Squares as there are Beetles and Kombies!
