Hi all!
I have some annoying issues with my windscreen. Last time someone fit it they had trouble getting it back in properly so it ended up with a big gap on
one side. Also I think the seal seemed a bit average as it started cracking pretty quickly.
Does anyone know where I could get this done right? At the moment I can't even wash the car without water getting in
Thanks,
Pete
the fitter hasn't left enough rubber in the corners
when fitting the seal you have to push the seal towards the corners to stop it from pulling as per your picture is over stretching
the window will have to come out to fix the rubber
Thanks vw54, I'm going to try and get another fitter to have a look at it, I'll mention that to them because I feel the last guys weren't that good with older cars. See those little cracks on the rubber though, do you think that might mean I'll need a new one?
yes new rubber required I didn't see the cracks bfore
hi, there r 2 size screens, fit diff models. not sure which is which. but one is slightly smaller. not saying u have wrong one. just there is slight diff in them
Where would I get that from? Vintage Vee Dub or something?
Oh Grogy, I didn't see your post. This window was originally in the car, but was taken out when some work was done on it, I don't know too much about the history of the car though, maybe it had been replaced in the past.
whats the car bug or ghia
OOps, forgot to mention that! It's a Type 3 Square 1972.
DOSENT MATTER WHAT CAR OR RUBBER
they have to be pulled into the corners to allow for shrinkage
Hey, you asked what the car was, not sure why you're yelling at me there??
Well thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can find someone who might be able to do it around my place. Haven't had much luck yet though, it seems
they are only interested in modern cars
Sorry wasn't yelling forgot to take caps lock off didn't want to retype
try the guys at VW Performance center Croydon I think or Volkscare depends on where u are in melburg
Type 3 rubbers have plenty of give in them cut that old rubber to remove the screen
Ha! no worries Thanks for the tips.
