hey guys
I'm shopping for new wheels and want the biggest wheels that will fit.
I have:
Front:
195/50/15 on 6" wide wheels at the front (lowered rubs down driveways)
Rear:
215/65/15 on 7" wide rims (lowered and rubs a bit)
No idea on the offset, thats the info i need! or atleast easy to follow instructions on how to messure it please
on what type of car?
Stock Type3 Rims, 195/65 15 on the front and 205/65 15 on the rear. Front rubs a little on the left side on full lock
225/45 17*7 295/45 17*9
"295/45 17*9"
under stock guards ? is it tubbed ?
add some pics to this thread :P
Fronts are 165's on standard rims, rear are 195/65R15's on 5.5 inch rims..
Rubs at the front full lock (down 2 inner splines)
No rubbing at the back (down 1 outer with the guard lip rolled)
A great place to work out just how different tyre sizes compare AND calculate the difference they make to the speedo is:

thanks guys, think im gona go buy some bling 15's or 14's big wheels are only good for high speed runs anyways.
got 19" rears with 235x35x19 at rear,2 spline drop.17" on front with 195x40x17 on 4 spline drop.heres a pic
hey custom fastty....been reading your build up on Type 3&4 Forum....nice one mate! Loving those wheels bud, should roll nice once the fron end is sorted. Good work!
i got 165/50/15's on 5" fronts and 185/45/15's on 5.5" rear. lowered and no rubbing whatsoever.
For me there's only one combo, stockies with 135s and 165s...............
Fronts 145/65/15 on 4's
Rears 175/65/15 on 5.5's
Couldnt fit any bigger on rear, tried 195's but no chance

I realise I'm a bit late to the party, but let's revive the thread anyway! After a bit of experimentation I've found my ideal tyre and rim combo.
Absolutely no rubbing whatsoever on full lock or suspension travel.
14x6" widened steels, I believe that the fronts are a set of the old "Type 3" offset, done by ROH. The rears are a wider offset by about 25mm,
traditionally the "Beetle offset", home-made back in the day.
Tyres are 195/65R14 all round, Sumitomo HTR-200s. They give excellent grip and only cost a smidgen over $100 a corner from my favourite tyre shop.
But you'd need an oxygen mask to ride that high, surely? ;-)
Nah, each to their own and all that, but if you're running a monster-truck square I doubt you'd get any rubbing with the body way up there.
Meanwhile, how do you find the undersize tyres, re engine/box performance?
Beautiful shot bus914 is that Saratoga park or near Gosford sailing club? We come down there fairly often it's a beautiful place,my wife has has
rellies down there and we have sailed both Saratoga and Gosford on quite a few occasions.
I am running 195/65x15's on 6" rims on my 61 ghia
Hi
I like these Porsche Cayenne wheels. 7,5x17 with 215/35 for the rear, and narrowed -to 6,25J- 17" fronts with 165/40x17 Nankangs. Saw these on
Germanlook.net
Fronts 175/50's
Rears 195/70's
Anyone know if 205's will fit into the rear of a 70s square lowered to splines?

yeah I know, I had one of mine stock height for off/bad road action/camping...was like a lifted 4WD in comparison to my city rides. Funny how perception changes so quickly...with the help of a few thousand pics of lowered dubs around the 'net! That Beetle Vs Type 3 wheel offset does make a difference. Nice ride BTW.
18x8 et42 225x35
lowered 1 spline on front, no scrubbing
standard height rear, (010 kombi auto and 13b turbo rotary) to weigh it down
^^ with RX7 brakes.
