just like it says, does anyone have any ideas how many karmann ghias and type34 razor edges were imported to Australia?
just curios, i might be buying one, a t34. cheers jon
I read somewhere that VW imported a small number of Karmann Ghia coupes around 1959-60..
Sales were slow and they were Very expensive
I don't know if the T34s were ever sold in Australia??
or maybe all private imports??
they would also have been very expensive...
LEE
ive seen quite a few in magazines and stuff, i figured they were quite well imported, a good seller for vw?
The Type 1 ghia was first sold through dealerships for the 1960 model year when the first RHD cars were made. The 1960 and 1961 models are the most
common Australian delivered cars, with not many after 1966 ( the later 70's LHD imports from USA are popping up frequently).
The Type 34 was sold between 1964 to 1969 based on current cars in Australia, as the top of the line luxury model. If anyone has actual sales figures
by year for VWAu for the ghia's I would love to know. At a guess, there would be atleast 100 T34 and over 1000 T14 sold, Anyone with hard figures
????
I found in the 1995 issue of 'VW Power' magazine by Volkswagen Australia magazines, the T34 article states a number of 20 T34's still in service Australia wide.
And they are still expensive
Australian Karmann Ghia sales figures.
1960 - 264
1961 - 284
1962 - 97
1963 - 81
1964 - 28
1965 - 31
1966 - 5

I think there are more Ghias in Australia now than ever before with all the imported LHD cars coming in.
Do you know if this includes Type 34 Ghias ???
thats great, thanks for those figures, heres one that won't be making it onthe road, but it might get exported, and return as a fridge or
something!
Just a little surface rust. Should polish out fine!
