Need info on wheel sizes
newghia - July 21st, 2008 at 07:18 PM

Can anyone tell me what the maximum offset and size rim i can fit on a '61 ghia is ?

it is slightly lowered. standard beam

I have seen the radir rims (17 x 7 i think) and wondered what the offset / backspacing is & what will fit

Give Boris a call at Vintage 9789-1777 they have done this before

dont know about offset but with mine 205 width tyres are the limit on 7 inch custom made mangels for the rear

i think you will have to do mods to fit those size wheels on yours, thats the problem with ghias, such a pain to put big wheels under

Thanks Rexy,
I have a set of 15 x 5.5 empi style on now, just want something bigger & different.
looks like more $$$ to spend on it again!

unfortunatly BIG wheels means BIG dollars and lots of mods to make eum fit

Yeh, maybe i'm just used to buying readily available bigger sizes for my hilux's, don't think my 20's or 22's will squash under the ghia, although, i did actually get out the tape measure!!!!
Didn't consider 17's to be big, will have to give "vintage" a call.

I had to go to 4.5" Mangels & 145x15 on the (lowered) front and it still scrapes on occasion...

Check out this; it might give you some answers / options.

You don't see 17's on a Ghia often, and I'm sure if it were easy we'd be seeing plenty.

Here is the only picture I've found and they're on a Razor.

Now 15" Radars can still look very cool?

Then there is always this......

......but then I think this car has spent more time in Photoshop than a workshop- :?:

Yeh thanks, i've got pics of the same razor up at work, liking the black one even if it is photoshopped......maybe i should have done the both headlights from the merc in mine, ....looks pretty swoopy

I am running 6x15" with 185/65x15 bridgestones, these clear nicely and give a fairly accurate speedo reading.cheers Les
