Anyone in the Sydney area with a spare good air bellows? I did have a spare but i think that in a fit of stupidity I gave it away last year.

Hi Dallas,
I think I have an NOS one in the garage. Ill have a look. Are you using it to put on a car?

Yes Steve. I changed the front trans mount today and noticed the bellows was a bit sad and would like to renew it. The poor old muffler is also looking a bit holey! Hasn't had much running for years and has rusted a bit. Used it a bit this year as the poor old work Ford died at 420,000 km (really I was just sick of driving the bloody thing!!). I still have the extractors I got from Rob H which I had on the green 69 so I might put that on while I'm at it. Might look at a better muffler as the Hot Dog is a bit noisy! Give me a call on 0438 197 711 if you have one and want to get rid of it to a good cause. Message bank still turned off as I didn't want to answer them while OS for 6 weeks. Might turn it back on tonight if the Scotch doesn't get in the way.:dork:

the after market ones are available from Vintage 02-9789-1777
but use the clamp on the engine side to ensure its a good fit

dont use the clamp on the body work side of the duct other wise it will suck hot air

Dave, I don't understand the "dont use the clamp on the body work side of the duct other wise it will suck hot air". If it is clamped on both positions how can the hot air enter the system?

I'll wait to see if Steve finds that one in his loot before I drive to the big smoke to Vintage! 8 months out of the traffic and I'm really getting the hang of it! Anything east of Windsor is too close to the city!!

The after market ones that were available a while ago were not a good a fit as the origionals
they were a little short the last one i fiited to my own Type 3 so i only use the clamp on the engine side if you get my meaning i also used a few zip ties to clamp much easierthan the origional clamp

there are some new rubber boots around but i am not sure how they fit the origionals get all hard and crack

Thanks Dave. I'll see if Steve finds the one before I make the trip to the big smoke. Out of action for a couple of weeks recovering from a dislocated shoulder! Don't ask how.:sniffle: At least I got the front tranny mount in before it happened.

Hucho, any luck?

Still looking, mate. Had a quick look where I thought it was and it wasnt. Im hoping I didnt let it go with the Type 3 motor is sold a couple of months back. Give me another couple of days.
Steve
PS So, ummmm......how did you do your shoulder?

Slipped on some moss on the back path. Concrete's bloody hard! Looks like the lathe and mill are on extended holidays. Hope not too much work comes in. Can't even drive the auto with indicators on right.

got one in good nick

Thanks MY68VW. Likewise, I gave the spare one away last year. Saw Andrew Dodd at servo on way to Mudgee on Friday and he will drop one into me soon. He has some in stock. No real hurry as I'm still a useless left hander only. Was ok for the weekend of drinking. If you only knew what my other hobby was which involves hanging onto a 1.8kg mass rotating at 100kph on two thin wires 20 metres long!. Hope it's right before end of year. Really need the other one working 100%

25 mph winds at Barkston Heath, UK at the British National Champs in August gave me some good practice Lee! That got the adrenaline ripping through the veins quite quickly.

Actually you have Grant Potter, half of the control line World Champ racing team living in Scone with you. Quite a good machinist as well if you want lathe and mill work done!

Should be back through Scone in a few weeks so will try and time a coffee break. Not sure if the boss will do the trip in the VW though. Seems to prefer the Commodore. No sense of adventure these days!

Just an update on the air bellows on the Notch. Picked one up from Andrew Dodd. Not sure if it's the same make as the ones you mentioned from VVW Dave. This one came via Tooley's I think. However, a good fit with original clamps in position.

So that 1.8kg on two thin wires wouldn't be some sort of aircraft would it?

Er yes! spot on there. Another filthy hobby to keep me off the street!
