They have a different attaching method to the beetle which has clips as against lugs on the type 3

Can you weld the clips to the wheel to make them fit?

1972 type 3's have the same hubcaps as beetles... from 1968>
they don't have clips, they just push onto the wheels..
If You find some hubcaps won't go on... they are brasillian
If You find some hubcaps are too loose.. they are Brasillian
German ones go on with a good thump of Your hand or foot... and never fall off...
I had an excellent New hubcap - chrome great - no rust -
but it just wouldn't go on...
It ended up with dents in it trying to knock it on with a rubber mallet... it never did go on... lol

Now early type 3s had the same domed hubcaps as the early beetles held on with clips...
type 3s around 1968-69? had a different wheel with a flat hubcap ... these were never used on beetles in Australia.
I believe these wheels also had clips to hold the flat hubcaps on... the wheels also had slots in them...

Sorry to disagree, but type three hubcaps were always the push on and flatter type, they never used clips. In about 1966 /67 they did have a raised
centre logo section, but were the same as type 1 when the 4 lug, slotted rims were used from 1968 onwards.
The very early Type 3 rims from 1962/63 have 4 larger slots.
