I think You need to look on the samba in the USA..

parts are much more common over there
like beetle parts over here...
I don't think the Yanks knew that Karmann vehicles were hand made.. lol

but anything metal is heavy and very expensive to freight..

I think You may find NOS parts over there, but they will most likely be the later models.. with large tail lamps and front blinkers
and large bumpers...

PS: not many Karmann ghias were sold in Australia..
they were nearly twice the price of a beetle...
