should my 73 square have a brake warning light? The speedo and fuel gage do not have the light provision but the switches are in the master cylinder (Both fuel and speedo gauges have 311 part numbers) . Also does anyone have clear pictures or diagrams of the wiring at the fuse box. I have the wiring diagrams but on some the trace is hard for me to see clearly. Also should the brake lights work with the ignition off, mine do not and neither does the interior light. A quick check at the fuse box indicates that the wiring may have been put back wrong at some stage.
Hi, Electricmonk!
The brake lights shouldn't work with the ignition off, but the interior light should. Does the clock have power with the ignition off? Or is it
broken like mine, lol. As far as I know the brake warning lamp was a US-market only thing, due to US Federal laws.
I'm lost in the wiring system of my Superbug at the moment, and I'm not doing too well. All I can say is that I sympathise with you! Know anyone
who's willing to help out with this electrical stuff?
Latter T3,s often had the two master cylinder switches that allowed a Warning Light to be installed but the cable that lead back to the warning lamp was folded back into the wiring loom near fuel tank filler pipe. Have a look down the black plastic sleeve , you will see one wire doubled over. You can tell the switches, they will have three terminals not two. You can dig the wire out of the black plastic sleeve and use it. The panel cut out is often there, you just need a 12 volts indicator of some description.
Thanks for the replies, makes things a little easier to understand. I may have a look for the wire at a later stage. Motor troubles have taken the forefront at the moment
