I had my suspicions this'd be why my feet were getting wet...
Question is... do I bog it, cut 'n' shut it, or try something else...
(Just throw'n it out there in case someone's been through this too)
cut and weld in new metal you dont need the double on the inner guard
I think that I've got the same issue and I'll just be cutting and welding a new piece in. Good luck.
Yes, weld a new bit in, but PLEASE remove the tank first!
Thanks everyone for your replies, sometimes I just need a second opinion!
HD - Yes I intended to do that, but 'better safe than sorry' and thanks for reminding me!

Hi been there just idea due to it being on driver side the inner behind what you see is close to you wiring and fuse box.
before you start a donor box section from a wreck.
buy drill bit for spot welds . drill the spots which if you sand around eadge of the box section you will see the indent of the weld.remove box
section.
sheet metal worker may help to knock up box section or some thing good as.
once removed, simple replace inner section. then weld box section over top.I try to make the metal patch before cutting can help with true shape.
If your feet are still wet check vents rubber or any crack .
yeah weld, dont even think about bog lol.
good luck.
notchbacktastic, If you need a box section let me know there would be a cost, but would save a lot of work .

It's coming away quite easy, still scares the hell outta me.
Well all looks good ,Just a tip when you butt weld the box section back in were you drilled out ,get a brass rod and place at the back off drill
hole in the front boot area this will help with blowing out the hole and making more work.Bit hard to explain but this method will help. The weld
won't stick to the rod but leave a nice flat weld in the boot area.May have to wear a glove while holding the rod can get hot.
good luck .
Thanks for the tip OLLY, that's an old Hot rodders trick isn't it!?
