kyb GR2 gas shocks rock! and reasonably priced. they have a good reputation for being durable and high performers as a hard working oem replacement.
if u want a bit more performance based shock, KYB gas adjust are the next step up. ![]()
Cofab are just as good as the old ones that were originally fitted. and cheaper again. They aren't gas shocks however, if thats even a concern. if u
aren't on a rediculously bumpy as road often and worry about oil throth, then these will do.
I have had good luck with monroes on other cars however. and they are cheaper than kyb again. Whether they are readily available for vw, i dont know.
But the ones in my brothers ricer burner i drive take a thrashing on corners, and its been excellent. haven't been able to break em.
I haven't had much personal experience with kyb and cofab, although i have gr2's on the front, cofab on rear (Mick motors were sold out of gr2
rear's so i went with them for the moment). I did however do alot of research and did have a good chat to Mick about these. Alot of reviews on line
as well. Kyb's are certainly a good unit, and have all my faith in them. I haven't seen a single bad review.
Oh! by the way, i initially shopped online, got prices, but postage was rediculous.
I went to Mick motors with a quote from teh online store, they price matched, and for the extra i paid in gst i saved a heap without having the
concerns of postage. Its a good bunch of lads working there ![]()
I've been happy with my Monroe GT Gas shocks on my Beetle, and you can get them for front and rear Type 3 applications.
Buy the best, Bilstein shocks, quite reasonable price for the US. I picked F/R for my oval for $540 posted
Thanks for the info, ill look in to some of these.
