Hey there everyone, hoping you guys might be able to give me a little help.
Just been fixing up a type 3 fastback for a friend and have hit a little snag.
First off the torque converter ripped the bolts through the flew plate, which i have already repaired with a new flex and new torque converter but now
im not able to select any gears and the oil level is high in the box.
From what i can gather its very possibly the oil pump in the tranny ( ive heard the little brass bush in them can go and then the pump wont work? I
can spin the center shaft very easily and it feels like there is no resistance or no pump turning..)
If thats the case how hard is that pump to replace or what costs is it for someone to break down the box? or is it better off looking for a good 2nd
hand box?
Really hope this isnt too bad, and that somone has some advice......?
cheers
Scotty
Scotty
the oil pump in the auto is right in the back of the box or housing So it has to come out and be stripped completely to get to it
pull the inner shaft out and check its not broken should have a spline on the end to dive the pump
where are u located ??? might help tack a S/H box
Thanks for the reply,
i have pulled the shaft out and its intact and the splines are fine so im guessing it has to be the pump.
Im located in Melb ( close to city )
any help trackin gdown a box would be great
Cheers again
