You know your vw is too low when...
HGFS - July 18th, 2010 at 03:04 AM

...your front beam looks like this, yikes :!::!:
Saw the pic in a thread on thesamba and had to have a laugh, it was in the type 3 section which is why I've put it here but now I look at it again it seems like a beetle, funny anyway.
Try going into the shop for an alignment, or complain of funny noises from the suspension and see what they say!

OMG!!!

newghia - July 18th, 2010 at 08:53 AM

Could be a type 1 beam in a type 3

wonder if its owner is a member of the PANSCRAPERS !!!!

vlad01 - July 18th, 2010 at 09:04 AM

thats type 1. there is no way a type 1 beam will fit in a type 3.

lol lmao  this is just ridiculous. people and their low cars:no:

vlad01 - July 18th, 2010 at 10:32 AM

Not straight out. you need to do mods.

newghia - July 18th, 2010 at 02:25 PM

Correct, but it can & is being done

Scarab - July 18th, 2010 at 04:02 PM

aren't the guys at Raw doing the Type 1 beams for Type 3's??

Scarab (aka: Paul)

vlad01 - July 18th, 2010 at 04:27 PM

Question is why?

hellbugged - July 18th, 2010 at 04:36 PM

narrower, adjustability, lighter, air bag conversions......."upgrade" to 2 sets torsion leaves

1303Steve - July 18th, 2010 at 04:48 PM

Hi

The Type 3 front end works works well for its intended use, beyond that its not very good.

Steve

vlad01 - July 18th, 2010 at 04:53 PM

narrower yes, but at cost of handling.
Adjustable, not as much as a type 3 beam. Just rotate on the spline.
Lighter but weaker.
Airbags?? I Don't know enough about them.
type 3 real torsion "full length" bars are superior over laminated leaf. Better yield strength, elasticity and return characteristics.

Stanley - July 18th, 2010 at 04:56 PM

narrow is all that matters in this instance

vlad01 - July 18th, 2010 at 05:07 PM

Yeah that what I thought.

narrower doesnt matter if handling not as good, its just done to look cool or have bigg tyres in there, or get tyres in to go lower
adjustabilty without pulling the thing apart..ie ADJUSTERS
like Steve and VW boy said good for there soft ride but beyond is difficult and parts available

remeber as i often say i still don't know shiz tho :dork:

empi - July 19th, 2010 at 02:03 PM

hellbugged - July 19th, 2010 at 02:18 PM

Stanley - July 19th, 2010 at 02:56 PM

I think I can see a type 1 conversion coming up on mine.

vlad01 - July 19th, 2010 at 08:37 PM

Ahh god my eyes :sniffle:

I like lowered, by like 1-2"......... but that!?

Terrible:lol:
