It's time to replace the door seals on my notchback.
Have been told that original items would be $300 or can
get aftermarket rubber for $40 per side. Has anybody used these. If so what was your experience as far as effectiveness and apperance.
I used the $300 ones they fit perfect
Also used the german ones US $279 for the pair
I've been warned about the cheapies...but have never used them.
I have heard/read that the original $300 ones are great.
ISP West in USA has just come up with a new alternative a couple of months ago. They are a continous extrusion with just the one join at the top
corner of the door.
Apparently they are great and just USD$80 for a pair.

worth gettin the good ones, I tried saving and got ones from USA, they were crap and had to cut and joined at the corners but ya never know, the $80 ones may be ok

I bought one from type 3 detectives U.K 85 pound was a good fit .I do have a spare original left hand side rubber with parts number.Just hard to find singles drivers side in Aus, The detectives sell seprate.
Thanks for all the replies will be getting german made ones probably from vintage vee dub $340.00 but they are still waiting on an order of them to arrive
I bought the cheap ones recently from Classic VW - they are just a generic line that doesn't even fit lengthwise. Total false economy and will be buying genuines soon.
CSP make em too. I wonder is they are any good?

I got some original NOS german rubbers from the states.....They have hardened and I have to slam my doors with the strength or ten men to get my doors shut!!!! Never again, I'll go decent aftermarket next time!
yes that is what ISP west told me and they sell the nos seals as well.
like they are saying buy the cheaper ones from us not the expensive ones. must be some truth to it?
Will fine out tomorrow anyways as the isp seals arrived at the post office today.
yes I got me seals
I must say, perfect fit. Just check the pic. Mind you I just rested the seal around the door and that is how good it lines up.
I pushed in 2 spots to see how it fit into the grove. Real soft too.
Recommended to all.
Guess that rusted out door was kept for a reason, practice on what I recon is the hardest part of the type 3 to dissemble/assemble
Good to know they fit, people have suggested the German ones at over $300. How much for postage for the ISP ones?
80 for the pair.
Thanks Vlad - love your passion.
Hi Vlad,
Can you please post some detailed pictures of the sound deadening in that door? I need to try to reproduce this for my Fastback. Can you trace it as a
pattern?
Thanks,
Jed
pretty sure ISP sell them? if not I will be happy to provide some pics.
Hi Vlad,
Checked the catalogue, yes they do sell something, but from the picture it does not look stock. Can you trace them up, or, if that is a spare/scrap
door, pull that one off as a pattern?
Regards,
Jed
It's a shame the DDB in the US isn't producing their seals any more - I've got a set on my square and they fit/work perfectly...
The ISP seals look great. I've just taken my Notch off the road to rebuild!!! I'll be throwing my German seals in the bin and buying ISP!!!
